Food and drink safety management systems continue to evolve. In addition to new EU legislation impacting on safety assurance systems, there is now greater emphasis on prerequisite programmes to support HACCP, the need to establish traceability systems and operating food safety assurance within a wider context with the introduction of ISO 22000. CCFRA has been at the forefront of providing industry with guidance on safety assurance systems for many years. The aim of this project is to take stock of this guidance and update and extend it to cover recent developments in safety assurance and related systems. It will lead to more effective safety assurance by providing access to up-to-date guidance or support on HACCP-based best practice (both generic and sector-specific), prerequisite programmes and their role in HACCP, traceability systems, and international and industry food and farming standards.
