The Center for Produce Safety 2011 Produce Research Symposium will be held June 28, 2011, at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. In keeping with its purpose to identify and fund research specific to a commodity, region or industry, CPS chose the Florida location to highlight the breadth and scope of its research. There will be a wide array of topics presenting the results of research projects and updates on cultivation and processing practices, irrigation and washing water, and co-management, among others. From tomatoes to tree crops, from the West Coast to the East Coast, there is a topic of interest for anyone responsible for providing safe produce.

As stated by Tim York, president of Markon Cooperative and the current chair of the CPS Advisory Board, "We are building upon a very successful research symposium held in Davis, California, in June 2010. The symposium participants welcomed the chance to interact with government officials, industry leaders, and the science community. The presentations and panel discussions are designed to engage the audience in the purpose of the research and the possible implementation of research results."

Registration will open February 15, 2011.
